April 5th 

1. The Maus Symposium will be all day (9:40 a.m. to  4 p.m. , and 7:30 to 8:30p.m.) in Basil 135. It will entail a discussion about the Maus Pulitzer Prize-Winning Graphic Novel about the Holocaust by Art Spiegelmen. Multiple professors, including Dr. Oliver Griffin, Dr. David Baronov, and Dr. Jeremy Sarachan will be speaking at the event. To read the book prior to the symposium, multiple copies are available in the Lavery Library.
2. There will be a public lecture focused on the Anthropological contributions to the COVID-19 pandemic. Guest speaker and applied medical anthropologist, Kristin Hedges, PhD, is an assistant professor of anthropology at Grand Valley State University. The talk will focus on how humans respond to pandemics, and hope the anthropology community responded to and learned from the pandemic. It will take place from 4:40 p.m. to 6pm.

April 6th: 

1. An exhibit on the “Willard Suitcases” by Jon Crispin will be in the Patricia O’Keefe Ross Art Gallery in the Skalny Welcome Center. Crispin spent five years photographing over 400 suitcases from patients of the Willard Asylum, a facility for those suffering from mental illness. The gallery will be open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

April 7th: 

1. Psychology club is having an event for the end of the semester and will be providing lawn games and popsicles for students at 1 p.m. in the LeChase Commons. 
2. Later in the evening, the Political Action Club will be holding a Voter Registration Drive. They’ll be looking for new members, registering people to vote, educating and answering questions regarding voting and civic engagement, and enjoying food. The drive will start at 6:30 p.m. and will be in the Wilson Formal Lounge near Haffey Hall.
3. After registering to vote, students can swing over to Taylor Night hosted by SAB at 7 p.m. Swifties will be gathering in the Campus Center Atrium to celebrate Taylor Swift. 

April 8th: 

1. Irish Dance Club has their Spring Recital in Cleary Auditorium in Kearney Hall. The show will start at 7 p.m., and will include special performances from Drastic Measures, and Ben Hockenberry. Students will be able to win prizes at the event as well. 
2. SGA and MSA will be holding their April edition of the Cardinal Conversation series. Starting at 7:45 p.m. in Wilson Formal Lounge near Haffey Hall, the conversation will be focused on Ramadan. 
3. Polls open at 8:30 am (virtually) to elect your SGA senators for the next academic year! 

April 9th: 

1. Local band, Joywave, have concerts Friday night and Saturday. If you don’t already have tickets, Friday night is sold out but tickets are still available to the Saturday show. The show starts at 7 p.m. and will be at Anthology at 336 East Ave. Tickets can be purchased here, and are $25.
2. The Memorial Art Gallery has an exhibit on art and activism relating to the AIDS epidemic. According to their website, “The exhibition features 165 of the most visually arresting and thought-provoking posters from the over 8000 posters from 130 countries “ centered around the disease. Artwork spans from 1982 to the present and the collection aims to “show how social, religious, civic, activist, medical, and philanthropic organizations have addressed the complex, controversial, and often contested terrain of the global HIV/AIDS epidemic within the public realm”. The posters are there to “​​underscoring how beauty and creativity have grown out of the tragedy and destruction of this deadly virus.”
